Mark Wahlberg and the Patriots

Today, the news made the headlines regarding Mark Wahlberg from the last Super Bowl. The story was about Mark being in attendance that night. But something was different about his attendance. It’s something that most people would never think to do at a football game, especially the Super Bowl. Mark left early.

He wasn’t alone, however. And he was alright. There were no emergencies. He wasn’t trying to leave before everyone else so as to beat the traffic. Mark was with his family. Why are we just learning about this today? I’m not sure, but some people are interested. Especially those who know Mark.

People know Mark from his movies. Many of his movies take place in Boston. People may realize that he has an accent. He has a Boston accent. Surely, then, he must be a Patriots fan. Right? Well, he surely is. Getting back to last year now. Why did he leave the Super Bowl early? His story changed.

During the last Super Bowl, people noticed him leaving early. So he was interviewed and asked about it shortly after that night. Mark’s original story was that his child was not feeling well. Alright, so that is very understandable. Nobody wants to force their child to stay at a game if they are feeling under the weather. Even if it’s the Super Bowl! But, today we got a different story. Well, perhaps it was said a little differently.

It’s not that Mark’s child was sick. No, Mark’s child was having a tantrum. Perhaps Mark meant that his child was not emotionally well. His child, who was 8 years old, was swearing up a storm during the game. Being a good dad, Mark did not accept that kind of language, even if it was at a sports game. He taught his child a lesson that day. Don’t use profanity!

$3 Tickets!

The NFL is at the center of controversy. It doesn’t really have anything to do with the owners. It doesn’t have anything to do with how much players are paid. But it does have something to do with how some players are acting.

Based on one’s opinion, these actions will be seen in either a positive or negative light. Some people won’t care at all The actions of some players have to do with a protest. They are protesting during the National Anthem. How, you might ask? They are kneeling down, while others stand.

Standing, during the Anthem, is the traditional method to which citizens have shown respect for the country. However, some NFL players are protesting certain injustices. These injustices don’t necessarily affect the players personally. They may know or have heard of someone who has undergone some type of injustice.

By injustice, we are talking about some type of police brutality or discrimination. Police prejudice has been in the news recently. Some players of the NFL wanted to perhaps give their star power towards this cause. Whatever one’s opinions on this matter we can all agree that it has brought controversy to the NFL.

Because the NFL is undergoing controversy, some people are avoiding going to games. Perhaps they will wait until the controversy goes away and then return. A lower number of attendees means that the NFL is selling fewer tickets. To combat this, the NFL is lowering their prices on some tickets. It’s a great time to buy NFL tickets! I saw online that some tickets were being sold for the low price of $3. That’s less than a beer at the game!

Lovers of football will continue to love football. The game isn’t going away. For them, now might be the best time to buy a seasons pass.

Bandwagon Fans

Every football lover has a favorite team. As a matter of fact, any sports lover, in general, has a favorite team. Usually, people love the winning team. Who can blame them? When a team wins most of the time it’s still a great feeling to be attached to that team. Most people will stick with their team whether they win or lose.

Most of the time, people choose a team to follow based on their geographic location. In other words, people will choose the team they live closest to. For example, if a fan lives in Chicago, they will likely choose to follow and support the Chicago Bears. However, this isn’t always so. I know this personally, having grown up around the Chicago area.

Surprisingly to some, many of the fans around Chicago are Green Bay Packer’s fans. This is even more intriguing because the Packers are considered the arch nemesis team of the Bears. At the same time, to other, this isn’t as surprising since Green Bay is about a 3 hours drive from Chicago. Many people from the Green Bay area could have simply moved to Chicago but retain their support for the Packers.

Let’s switch gears to the Patriots. The Patriots are arguably the hottest team right now. We have a great quarterback in Tom Brady and a great coach in Bill Belichick. The Patriots have won 2 out of the past 3 Super Bowls. Because of this, it should be no surprise that some people from across the States would want to see them win again!

There’s nothing necessarily wrong with being a bandwagon fan. Sure, that is a very arguable statement. Even longtime fans of the Patriots might be cautious with these new fans. in the end, however, Patriots fans are Patriots fans and will get along to watch the big game together.
